2026 Oatey Summer Internship Program – The Oatey Intern Experience

Chemicals Intern Position Summary                             

Under general supervision of New Product Development Laboratory and Projects Manager, the intern will complete a variety of assignments to provide general support to the Research and Development group.  Assignments will make a positive contribution to Oatey as well as provide the student with “hands-on” work experience. 

Expectations & Accountabilities…

• Assist chemists/chemical engineer/lab manager with the preparation of project records and documentation. 

• Participate in product development projects including making and testing lab scale mixes to industry standards.

• Analyze products using Gas Chromatograph, Brookfield Viscometer, TGA/DSC, Texture Analyzer, FTIR etc.

• Benchmark testing of current products vs competitor products.

• Test new raw materials and record data.

• Project work may include testing samples from manufacturing to verify capability.

• Administrative and chemical inventory function.

• Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to be successful…

• Education and Certification: Enrolled in an undergraduate chemistry or chemical engineering program with completion of at least four (4) semesters.

• Excellent analysis skills.

• Experience working with Excel and other Microsoft applications.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Demonstrated high initiative.

• Chemical lab experience
