Chemicals Intern Position Summary
Under general supervision of New Product Development Laboratory and Projects Manager, the intern will complete a variety of assignments to provide general support to the Research and Development group. Assignments will make a positive contribution to Oatey as well as provide the student with “hands-on” work experience.
Expectations & Accountabilities…
Assist chemists/chemical engineer/lab manager with the preparation of project records and documentation.
Participate in product development projects including making and testing lab scale mixes to industry standards.
Analyze products using Gas Chromatograph, Brookfield Viscometer, TGA/DSC, Texture Analyzer, FTIR etc.
Benchmark testing of current products vs competitor products.
Test new raw materials and record data.
Project work may include testing samples from manufacturing to verify capability.
Administrative and chemical inventory function.
Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to be successful…
Education and Certification: Enrolled in an undergraduate chemistry or chemical engineering program with completion of at least four (4) semesters.
Excellent analysis skills.
Experience working with Excel and other Microsoft applications.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated high initiative.
Chemical lab experience
