What we're looking for...
The Test Compliance Engineer actively works with the Engineering and Quality teams as needed to develop, execute, and analyze Design Failure Mode and Effect Analyses (DFMEA’s) and Test Plans in collaboration with the Mechanical Lab and Applications Teams. This role also works with regulatory agencies to determine applicable standards and coordinates testing and listing.
Expectations & Accountabilities...
- Develop test plans and procedures which comply with applicable national and international requirements. Oversee validation/reliability testing processes and procedures for current and new products in collaboration with applications team and mechanical lab.
- Work collaboratively with both Chemical and Mechanical Engineering teams to develop DFMEA and Test Plans for current and new products.
- Develop best processes and common test plans for the overall engineering community and create training programs.
- Research applicable standards and identify the testing required to meet the established standards for new projects in all global markets, as needed, in collaboration with regulatory team.
- Responsible for product compliance and performance from concept to production.
- Develop and maintain relationships with listings agencies.
- Effectively communicate with Engineering teams, and external agencies to document testing requirements and certifications.
- Develop and implement test protocols for critical subsystems to verify tooling/material/manufacturing changes did not influence the performance or reliability of the system.
- Create and collect various paperwork and testing reports to obtain certification listings for new product to facilitate its adherence to local/state/national code requirements.
- Lead the development and validation of test fixtures and procedures.
- Review product designs to prevent and resolve non-compliances and incompatibilities early in the development cycle.
- Define, plan, coordinate, witness, and oversee applicable compliance and application tests.
- Write test reports and maintain all compliance related technical documents.
- Monitor and support American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) voting as needed.
What you'll need to be successful...
- 5-10 years of relevant experience.
- Hands on experience with testing and evaluating plumbing or consumer products to national and international standards.
- Proficiency in defining tests, setting up, and working with basic laboratory tools.
- Previous experience working, negotiating, and interacting with certification bodies (UL, NSF, IAPMO, Intertek, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret and effectively convey technical information.
Qualifications that will set you apart...
- DFMEA and DOE analysis skills preferred.
- Member of ASTM committee or experience participating preferred.
- Knowledge of plumbing code, standards, and systems preferred.
Education and Certification
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or relevant equivalent experience required.
- Six Sigma Certification preferred.
- AIAG Certification or a working knowledge of APQP required.
