What we’re looking for…

This is a highly visible supply chain role in Receiving that will manage the material planning, inventory control, receiving, warehousing, and cycle counting processes. This is a key, hands-on supervisory position, responsible for developing and executing material inventory plans that will drive the organization towards exceeding customer service levels. Collaboration with other members of the supply chain, sales, marketing, and customer support teams is paramount to achieve these sales and service objectives.


Expectations & Accountabilities…

  • Supervise receiving team - including, Material Handlers, Material Flow Coordinators, and Inventory Assurance Specialists.
  • Manage all purchased inventory (material, equipment, and supplies) to ensure an acceptable level of working capital without jeopardizing customer or production requirements.
  • Effectively communicate across functions updating on shortages, anticipated shortages, and expediting status.
  • Lead continuous improvement and other Lean principles (PFEP as one example) to control and minimize inventory in accordance with company goals.
  • Maintain close contact with the production planning team to align efforts to demand plan and further minimize raw material shortages.
  • Work across departments and locations to leverage expertise, maximize the utilization of resources, and enhance product availability.
  • Analyze all inventories in assigned areas and identify problem items (excess, obsolete, damaged) and participate in an MRB to determine and take necessary actions to minimize financial exposure.
  • Implement and enforce safety policies to assure safe operations.
  • Focus on successful delivery for new product raw materials and be involved with continuous improvement to eliminate missed shipments or lines down due to material shortages.
  • Analyze and maintain planning system to stock appropriate inventory levels throughout the year and anticipate seasonal changes in demand.
  • Supervise the inventory assurance process and associates to maintain inventory accuracy and coverage requirements. 
  • Lead annual inventory process as directed by Oatey Finance
  • Prepare necessary analysis and metrics on a periodic basis; lead improvement activities as necessary
  • Evolve and maintain documents and Standards Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for material planning processes and systems
  • Assure application of department conformance to quality and Lean principles and practices.
  • Be able to present quantitative and qualitative findings clearly and concisely.
  • Participate on New Product Introduction teams to present or transition packaging components and materials and coordinate with Buyers, Demand Planners, and Production Schedulers to minimize obsolete inventory.
  • Cross-train to back-up production scheduling, distribution planning and inventory counts and reconciliation activity
  • Coordinate with Sourcing and Purchasing on future rail car deliveries; manage deliveries locally with the rail line’s representative
  • Work with planning and purchasing as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to be successful…

  • In-depth knowledge of planning and scheduling with previous MRP experience in either SAP, Oracle, or other ERP statistical software packages.
  • Significant supervisory experience in a high-volume warehouse/receiving operation.
  • Strong initiative and follow-up skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • In-depth emotional intelligence: behavioral maturity, demonstrated trust and integrity, high ethical standards, interpersonal competence, and the ability to prevent, reduce and resolve conflict.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Dynamic AX, and Scale WMS.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work well under pressure and generate results in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated team and individual leadership skills: decision-making, team building and organization skills.
  • Previous warehouse leadership experience.
  • Four-year college degree (Business, Industrial Engineering or related field) required.

Experience that will set you apart….

  • Experienced in planning and scheduling for high volume repetitive products and experience in a build to forecast manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of key inventory performance metrics e.g. turns, margin contributions etc.
  • Previous MRP experience in either SAP, Oracle, or other ERP statistical software packages.
  • APICS certification.
