What we're looking for...

The Corporate Quality Engineer analyzes test data to determine the causes of defects, failures, or flaws and helps facilitate corrective measures.  The role will improve product quality by evaluating and challenging the design of new and existing products. 

Expectations & Accountabilities...

  • Work with the R&D team to understand Critical to Quality features and performance requirements for new products.  Assist R&D and operations with new product launches and customer service with handling customer complaints.
  • Contribute to Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) effort by ensuring Critical to Quality features (CTQ’s) are properly documented and that appropriate Risk Priority Numbers (RPN) weights have been applied.
  • Develop a design validation plan that ensures product performance meets or exceeds design intent. 
  • Work closely with site Quality Manager or Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) adequately addresses all CTQ’s.
  • Support the QF process by investigating product for potential design flaws.
  • Operate, maintain, and train associates on key analytical equipment and software used for technical quality analysis.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance with focus on suppliers of Finished Goods Bought (FGB) items.
  • Assist suppliers with effective corrective action plans to address product nonconformances and facilitate the Eight Disciplines (8D) process for FGB products.
  • Execute and facilitate supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) process
  • Perform analytical testing and analysis on materials and products.
  • Assists other Operation professionals in establishing, implementing, and maintaining quality management systems.
  • Schedule and complete supplier audits, including following up with corrective actions.
  • Lead the documentation and training of internal quality processes.
  • Support the Supplier Managers with assisting in the management of supplier quality and scorecards.

What you'll need to be successful...

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of Quality Engineering experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality and quality management processes.  (Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).
  • Experience with operating analytical quality measurement systems (Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM), optical comparator, etc.).
  • Industry experience with multiple types of material processing (Molding, metal processing and/or chemical processing).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and web-based tools.
  • Communication Skills: demonstrated ability to develop, synthesize, and present material orally and in writing in an articulate and concise manner.
  • Stand-up presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen to and process other’s point of view.
  • Experience in formal quality processes such as ISO, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other well developed continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications that will set you apart...

  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Quality Engineer certification or Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) training preferred.

Education and Certification

  • Associates degree plus relevant work experience required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Operations or relevant degree preferred
