What we’re looking for…

A Distribution Planning Manager oversees the efficient and effective distribution of Oatey products. This role involves strategic planning, logistics management, and ensuring that products are delivered to the right place at the right time while optimizing costs and resources. The Distribution Planning Manager communicates amongst the functional areas onsite at Oatey’s distribution center to improve our customers' planning needs and shipping performance. This position ensures the prioritization of inventory needs and shipping processes to maximize order fill rate and on-time order shipping.

Expectations & Accountabilities …

  • Manage the distribution planners to guide backorders, problem orders, large projects, and new item rollouts.

  • Manages current orders and backorders efficiently to reduce the total cost considering such factors as order picking, staging, and logistics costs.

  • Plan and prioritize orders and shipments to improve efficiency.

  • Review Fill rate report and research issues impacting the overall order fill rate.

  • Collaborate with site leadership to resolve inventory discrepancies that need to be researched.

  • Coordinates backorder fulfillment and research issues with orders that prevent high fill rates.

  • Develop and lead projects with the site planners (e.g. new item rollouts, promotions).

  • Responsible for customer routing guide interpretation and updating onsite planners on requirements to meet customer shipping requirements and avoid fines.

  • Create reporting as needed to help improve DC performance.

  • Review and work with stakeholders to create standard work for the onsite planning team.

  • Provide training to the planners in areas of backorders, waving orders, immediate needs, and other order planning functions as needed.

  • Work with 3PL’s to perform routing (e.g. shipments from 3PL to Customers).

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to be successful…

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience managing a team in distribution.

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of distribution and production planning experience.

  • Demonstrated experience with SAP/WMS.

  • Advanced office proficiency with Microsoft Excel experience.

  • Solid understanding of demand planning strategies and models; as well as inventory management practices and procedures.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and generate results in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated team and individual leadership skills: decision-making, analytical, team building, and organization skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication ability, detail-oriented, and advanced organizational skills.

Qualifications that will set you apart

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related program, or equivalent work experience.
